Every two years, Giffard Liqueurs searches the globe for the next West Cup champion. The Giffard West Cup aims to challenge bartenders from around the world to utilize and highlight their favorite Giffard Liqueurs, exhibit their style and personality through cocktail creation, and compete with the world's best bartenders to become West Cup Champion. Through a rigorous preliminary competition, Giffard selects over 20 competitors from around the world.
At the beginning of April, Giffard Liqueurs held a U.S. cocktail competition, hosted and judged by the award-winning Death & Co. bar team. The U.S. Finale was the culmination of a competition that began in January. Ten top bartenders from around the U.S. qualified through an online cocktail submission process, with their Signature Serve Giffard Cocktail, and were flown to Denver to compete on a national stage.
The official theme for the second and final round of the West Cup U.S. Finale at Death & Co. Denver was "Less is More." For this challenge, each competitor was asked to build a cocktail that celebrated and highlighted a single Giffard Liqueur flavor offering. Each bartender was limited to a single base spirit, in addition to the Giffard Liqueur of their choosing, with the final option of elaborating the cocktail with bitters, syrups, and other ingredients, in tiny amounts.

Opened on New Year's Eve 2006/07 in Manhattan's East Village, Death & Co quickly became a cocktail institution, owed greatly to its staff of creative bartenders and incredible servers. Since then, it has evolved and changed; from an intimate bar in NYC to a sprawling cocktail lounge and restaurant in Denver -- and, perhaps, more to come. Through this growth, Death & Co has maintained its commitment to fine product and exceptional experiences, a focus on hospitality, and a deep desire to be a center for its communities.
